Lists

Well, I am starting something new.
Writing lists.
Maybe if I write lists I will accomplish more than sitting around on StumbleUpon for an hour.
Of course that didn't happen.

So here is list number 1.
Numero uno.

Books I want to read
(and if I were motivated I would read them all this summer, but let's be real.)
  1. The Perks of Being a Wall Flower, by Stephen Chbosky
  2. Radical, by David Platt
  3. The Screwtape Letters, by C.S. Lewis
  4. To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee- This will make the 7th time I have read it.
  5. Room, by Emma Donaghue
Any suggestions, good and faithful readers?

Sometimes life isn't fair.
Doesn't that seem like something your mom told you when some kid was a punk on the playground and you got time out for kicking them in the shin even though they were the one who started it? That never happened. That only happened once. That happened frequently. Whatever.

Well I just think that life isn't fair, but on a much bigger level.
If I could tweet God right now, it would go something like this:
"Hey @God, why do you let your children suffer? Love, @NatalieEHoward."
My life's biggest question right now, all summed up in under 140 characters.

Psalm 10: 16-18

The LORD is king forever and ever;
the nations perish from his land.
O LORD, you hear the desire of the afflicted;
you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear
to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed,
so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more.

Spring Sing

Well, Anatomy and Physiology Class is upon me, so a blog post is now upon you.
Also, I have no idea why the first line of this post is centered. Gah.

Spring Sing.
An excuse to dance, sing, look cute, and act like an idiot.

What could be better, right?

Well the beautiful ladies of Gamma Rho came to the stage as the cutest little Minnie Mouses... Minnie Mice that you have ever seen.

Just look at us.

Madison is so pretty. Love her love her.
Taylor puts up with us, and it just makes me so happy. We will keep her around for a while, I think.
Our rush class. We are the best.
Our York friends came!!! I am so glad to have gotten to see Patrick, Elicia, Stephanie and Bethany. They got me through Happy Hell Hole. Happy Hollow.
Some of the Capitol Hill girls came and saw us! I was so happy for them to come!
Some of my favorite people. I am so lucky to have great friends!
Sisters. Love 'em.
Michael, I am glad you take care of me, and I am glad that you let me take care of you. Haha.
True Love.

Also, did you know that I am co-dependent?
Dictionary.com defines co-dependent as

"of or pertaining to a relationship in which one person is physically or psychologically addicted,
as to alcohol or gambling, and the other person is psychologically dependent on the first in an
unhealthy way."

Well I don't define it like that.

I define it as the fact that Cal, Jenna and I can't process alone.
We got dressed together. We did hair and make-up together. Everything.
I couldn't have done Spring Sing without them.
I am the mom of the group, but that's a-ok with me.
Co-Dependents for life.

Well, that was Sing Sing.

Did I mention we got SECOND?!?
I know, we are awesome.

Chi Lambda Phi, the club that alot of my friends are in, got 1st. They were the best Godzillas you could hope for. They looked like Neopets, but whatever.

Spring Sing is over, and I am not mad about it. I will miss the time with friends, but I will enjoy sleeping and doing homework at a normal time more.

I love spring sing.
I love blogging.
I love diet coke.

have a good day.

This blog in in honor of Katelyn, who always includes a picture of her current blogging location.
The Library.
First Floor, baby.

I am "studying" microbiology currently, because I really can't fail another test. I mean, I guess a C and a D aren't technically failing, but the next step is an F, so the work starts now.

Just a list of a few things that are happening, or not happening in my life.
  1. Spring Sing- donezo. I will have a whole blog about it someday, but this blog can't handle all the cute Minni-ness that I have to present.
  2. Spring Break- IT'S ALMOST HERE! San Antonio, here I come.
  3. I have the best friends. I talk about them all the time, but I so thankful for them. Gah.
  4. That brings me to another important update in my life. Thankfulness. It's important. That is why I am trying to voice my gratitude for the little things in life. If you are busy being thankful, you don't have time to complain.
  5. My nails are currently coral colored, and I LOVE it.
  6. Microboiology sucks. I know that isn't a normal what's going on in your life kind of comment, but my notes and book are under my laptop and I keep seeing them. Yuck.
  7. OH MY GOSH. I got the internship at Capitol Hill church of Christ this summer. I AM SO EXCITED. I don't know how this is number 7. Apparently 7 is the new 1, because this is the most important thing ever. Well maybe not ever, but it is the thought of this summer and the fact that I will not ruin it with having to re-take micro that is getting me through.
  8. I must figure out a few important things, which alot of you know about, but I don't really want to share with the whole world wide web. Cryptic, I know.
  9. I have discovered that I am funny. Go on, laugh. You know you are thinking about my humor and dazzling wit right now. I can hear you lol'ing as we speak. Or as I speak, or type rather, and you read... Yeah.
  10. Well, the only other thing in my life right now needs to be more studying. So sorry, but my blog is over for now, but I will leave you with a charge. A mantra for you week, if you will. Be thankful. Comment on my blog and tell me what you are thankful for. Or even go out and tell others that you are thankful for them.

Things I...

Love.

  • Diet Coke. Happy Hour after class at Sonic? I think so.
  • Brooke Dore'. We actually call each other BFF, so mock us in our middle school ways. BFF. That's what we are. I went to Stillwater to see her this weekend, and it was magical. Getting to see her is something I need to do more often.
  • Capitol Hill church of Christ. I realize I talk about it a alot, but come on. Worshipping God, loving people, and playing with kids. What could be better?
  • The weather right now. HELLO? We had snow days last week, and now we played outside last night at church and I am wearing rolled jeans.
  • That brings up something else I love. Rolled jeans and converse tennis shoes.
  • Honestly the most comfortable thing to wear in the world. And it means it is almost spring. Ish. (Please note that the picture is taken under the table during my A&P class... That is honestly where most of my blogs get written. It's just what I do.
  • I love Spring Sing.... I mostly love Spring Sing. I love being with my friends in Gamma, and I love getting to dance around like a precious Mouse. We are cute. Just you wait.
  • SweetTart Hearts. They will be on clearance post-Valentines day. Yes.
  • My Valentine, Suzanna. She gave me a precious card with Ezra from PLL on it, and she gave me candy and a headband. Score. I feel like Valentines Day gets a bad rap- I got a watch, a headband, candy, cupcakes, a movie. This holiday is fine with me!

Hate.
  • Chocolate. Easy as that.
  • Vegetables, because I am a 5 year old. I just can't handle them.
  • When I sleep through classes. Or sleep in classes. Both of those are terrible. It is obnoxious how often both of those happen.
  • My Anatomy class. I actually love my teacher, ish, but this class. TERRIBLE.
  • The movie Gummo.
  • Honestly. Not even terrible in the "super funny but you feel terrible about watching it" kind of way. Like I. Hate. This. Movie. Gah.
I am doubting even publishing this post because it is so. Blah. That is what this class does to me.

Challenge for you from the chapel speaker today: Be free in Jesus. Know that you have that freedom and live your life like that this week.

Have a great day.

PS- If you were in chapel today, I apologize about our announcement.... Funny but terrible. That's my only defense.

Oh gosh.

Oh hey there, 3:24 am.

What's up?
I haven't seen you in a while.

Actually, that is not true. That is anti-true. So false, i guess.

The past 2 weeks are a gigantic, cold, sweatpants and long socks filled blur.
We have had like 10 feet of snow. 10 or 2. whatever. Gah. I have had enough. It is actually terrible at this point. For those of you who don't know, I like to drive fast. Can't do that on the snow! I also like to wear chacos and be tan. Neither of those are happening either, mostly because the sun is not shining, and I like having toes instead of frost-bitten nubs. This snow has got to go. Come to me, 105 degree weather. I will take you with joy.

The only good thing that could ever come from snow is snowpocolypse activities.
I stayed at my friend Lee's house with s handful of my dear friends. We watched 16 movies, yes 16, and we ate, and we slept, and then ate and slept some more. We played in the snow for all of 17 minutes, and I fell off the sled and rolled backwards down the hill. Embarrassing? I think so. Ah, well, se la vie. (I think that is close to French for That is life, but it might not be. I got it from a Pretty Little Liars episode). I mean, the whole thing was awesome, but I was ready to be back in my bed as opposed to sleeping on Lee's couch. Again.

I thought the weather was going to be kinder.
But nooooo.
This week there was more snow.
I know, right?
I was slightly more productive though. Cupcakes were baked, crafts were made, and homework was completed, all in one snow day. That is more than I can say for the aforementioned hiatus at the Branch Ranch.

And that brings me to now.
Well, that brings me to now, which is a day later than then. Hahaha. This blog post will amuse me for now, but when people are reading it in the day I probably haven't a chance of making any sense to anyone.

Oh tonight. I came back to the lobby of my dorm to absolute chaos. KAY-OSS.
I can't really write about it, since my mom reads my blog (hi, mom) and also I don't want incriminating things released to the internet, but RING A LING LING was yelled, curse words were screamed, and cackles of laughter were released by all. I love the girls I live with. So much. But just know that the lobby of a dorm brings strange truths to life.

Now it is 3:37, and Hal, Cal, Logan, and Kendall are shortly leaving for Nash-Vegas. I hope you are reading this via iPhone on your car trip later today, and be safe ya little hooligans.

Goodnight, or rather goodmorning, friends. I hope God blesses your life in awesome and unexpected ways today.

Duces, January.

And here comes February.

What I have done this month thus far:

  • Didn't go to bed till 5 am.
  • Woke up this morning at 11:00 ish to the smell of bacon and the knowledge that pancakes were being cooked.
  • I am watching my third movie of the day.
  • There is just piles of blankets and pillows and people that are my friends.
  • Watched the snow. Oh the snow. THE. SNOW. Snowpocolypse. Snowagedon. Call it what you must. It is insanity.
That is about it. I mean, I know it is just the first of the month, but by the looks of things we will be doing the same thing for a few days.

And now I will return to my regularly scheduled activities of eating, movie watching, game playing, and more eating.

My oh mayo Monday.

mayo in the title is said with a spanish accent, so it's said like "my oh". not the shortened form of mayonnaise.

yeah.

Here is a list of things.

  1. Our dorm smelled like cabbage last night. Sick, I know. My friend Suzanna compared it to an Eastern European slum. Terrible.
  2. Spring Sing is in full swing. If you want to know what this is, watch the video of the fabulous women of Gamma Rho here.
  3. I love my mom. I call her daily. Judge me. Well she and my dad are in Haiti for 2 weeks which kills me. I have called her phone twice to listen to her voice mail. Really though.
  4. I am playing intramurals for gamma, and I have a game tonight at 10. You should probably come, because this is a video of my highlights from last season. (You might be saying, "But Natalie- that is Kevin Durant..." and I am telling you that KD got all his moves from me.)
  5. People of Walmart. Go to this website. Love the pictures.
  6. Diet coke. Splendid and wonderful. I am working on a nice 32 oz cup that Kara got me. Ahhh.
  7. My friends and I had been on the google image page for "Babies with Wigs"... Figure that one out.
  8. Gnomes. You all know my affinity for the wonderful little things. Feb 11th, I will be seeing this movie. No questions.
  9. My best friend Sarah loves Asians. After seeing this, why would you not?
  10. This day is going by so very slowly. Go talk to someone you have never talked to, or love someone who you struggle to love, or give something away. Change the world.

Pay it Forward!

Today I was reading my friend Amber's blog and saw this great idea.

I promise to send something handmade
to the first 3 people who leave a comment here.
To be eligible, you must also post this in your blog,
offering the same thing to 3 other people.
The rules are that it must be handmade by you and it
must be sent to your 3 people *sometime* in 2011.

So, if you want 3 handmade things, but also want to make 3 handmade things for 3 other people, comment, leave your email, and then also post this on your blog! Who doesn't love handmade gifts?
