Merry Christmas, have some food.

That is how I feel about my whole life right now.
Let's celebrate Christmas.
Have a cookie. Some candy. Chocolate covered pretzels. Egg nog.
Gah.

Well here is the recap of my daily Christmas Break activities.
-Wake-Up: 12:30 ish.
-Eat: All day
-See friends that have been away.
-Go to sleep: 12:30.
Repeat.

We opened Christmas gifts tonight. I was lucky enough to get a lot of what I wanted, and then some stuff that I didn't expect. When Musset (our adopted college student from Haiti- NBD) opened one of his gifts which my mom explained to him was a heated blanket, his response was "Shut up". Oh, how America has affected him. Great.

The Capitol Hill Christmas Party.
Wonderful, stressful, full of wrapping boxes, terrific.
Pictures? Ok. fine.

The greatest.

But that has been Christmas.
I wonder what Musset thinks about Christmas in the US.
A fat man that talks to little kids and has a bushy beard.
A tree with lights and tacky ornaments.
Putting lights everywhere.
Rushing to stores to buy everything.
Aye yaye yaye.

But to keep us all in the festive spirit, look at this picture.
It is the best little picture I have ever taken.
This little boy is wonderful. He doesn't hate me. If other people get on to him, he comes to me.
It's love.

Anyways.
Happy Christmas.

Terrible terrible terrible.

My Bedroom.

Just kidding.
But it's official. I have way. Too. Much. Stuff.
My bedroom looks like an episode of Hoarders.
Seriously though.
I would take a (real) picture, but I don't want to embarrass myself.

Holy Toledo. Wish me good luck.

When I grow up...

Don't google it.
I did.
I was going to see what google suggested I do when I grow up.
I mean, people search google for the answers all the time, right?
Well this time it was wrong.
At least I hope it was wrong.
If not, prepare yourself, world, for me to pursue a career as a PussyCat Doll.

Or anywhere with you.

My beautiful friend Taylor made this for me for Christmas.
It says "Gnome is where the heart is".

For those of you that don't know, I LOVE gnomes a lot.
They are splendid.

ESL

So Amanda, my dear friend, called me today to see if I could help with ESL tonight at Capitol Hill. For those of you that don't know, ESL stands for English as a Second Language. I knew that Amanda works with the kids on these nights, so I expected to be teaching English to little kids, which sounds great to me.

Tonight was much different.

I made sock puppets.
I made necklaces.
I hung out with some great kids.
The best part of the evening, by far, was the dancing though.
And what better Artist to dance to than JB himself?

Amanda, if you read my blog, don't hate me. I didn't put these on facebook!

Side Note: I'm interning here next semester. Woot.
Prepare for lots o' blogs.

Why would I ever...

...volunteer at an inner-city church and maybe change my life goals and not study all weekend and instead spend all of my time there?
This child. Hello.
...go to a Thunder game an hour late?
maybe because I scored (no pun intended) floor tickets for $17 with one of my best friends, Amanda. Yeah, it happened. Yeah, be jealous. No, I won't tell you how it happened. I can't ruin my sources.

Oh yeah, NBD-- That's Amanda with JAMES HARDEN. He touched her back. He chuckled at my witty comment. It's love.

...ever think I could study with my friend Suzanna in the library.
She has a new blog, by the way.. Go read it NOW. Seriously though- I laughed out loud.
Anyways- she has now discovered babies in wigs. That sounds like a horrible band name, but she is literally just looking up pictures of babies in wigs or terrible costumes. That's what over 10k bucks a semester teaches you to google.

...think that writing a blog right now instead of studying would be a good idea??
it's Suz's fault, I am sure.

A little thing I like to call Dead week...

My top 10 observations from dead week.
(Dead week is the week before finals, where there is nothing going on, and tests and papers are not supposed to be due because all you will be doing is studying.)

  1. What I just said was a lie. That is what "they" say dead week is. Instead, it is a week that makes you want to be dead. For real though. I have a test or a major paper or both every day this week. Studying for finals? Yeah right.
  2. People who have never been in the library ever all of the sudden call that place home, which is semi-annoying to me.
  3. I get a lot less sleep. That's ok though because it makes me even more pleasant that usual.
  4. Those girls that have been dressing up all year finally face reality that you can't always look perfect. The best part about that is they still don't realize that no one cares!
  5. It becomes socially acceptable to edit your papers while sitting at a basketball game... Right?
  6. I know what librarians work when. Judge me.
  7. Freshmen find it acceptable to turn the library into their new social hangout since the hours, and their curfew, are extended. Singing happy birthday in the library, no matter what floor=not acceptable.
  8. Showering becomes even less of a priority. Ehh.
  9. 30% of my blog post become about the library. Who am I??
  10. And suddenly, I have nothing. After writing all day, I have hit a block.
I guess that's all, apparently.

Lighting of the Commons.

What could be happier than the following?
Well, I mean besides this little girl? She is angry.

Love 'em.
Also- Is Cory sitting in Sarah's lap?
Maybe.

Merry December!!

Since I have my 2 front teeth, All I want for Christmas/My birthday is......

This is not a list of things that I am trying to guilt you, my friends, into buying for me.

Don't get me wrong though-- since Christmas (and my birthday!) are really soon, if you want to buy any of this for me, feel free!! In fact, feel encouraged to do so.

This is mostly in the chance that my mom looks at my blog, or my mom's friends look at my blog and fell the urge to tell her what I want.

Anyways, here we go.
Otter Box phone case for my phone. My phone gets abused, I will admit it.

Kavu Rope bag. These are cute and EXTREMELY useful. I want a black one, or khaki, or black hounds tooth. :-)
New shoes. I am running the Holiday Hustle (on my birthday, boooo), and I will be wearing the shoes I bought my junior year of high school. Gosh.

North face Jacket. Cliche', I know, whatever. I still want one.
Airfare to Haiti. I want to go really badly. My parents are going in January for two weeks.
I know, right? Punks.

So there it is.
Happy giving, and I hope that your thanksgiving was as full of food as mine is!

I must watch all award shows with my friend Josh.
We are both ridiculous, and we are both tweeting like crazy.

It is a friendship that is meant to be.

Gotta go- Christina Agulara is on! GAH!

I NEED to be here. Sheesh.

Why would you not want to be with these precious ones?

What is happening? What???

Suzanna has a ridiculous lisp, and is saying things like....
"You probably wouldn't know this, but my mouth was wired shut for the first 14 years of my life"
"My plastic surgeon is my biggest hero... Cause I don't have to live in the basement anymore..."
"Actually, Hallie Stapp is my biggest hero... She helps me take off the fake half of my face every night."
"My mouth is a steel trap. Literally."
"I wasn't dancing. I had an itch in my scoliosis brace."

Jenna is dancing (pantless) to the cha cha slide. Excellent.
"I HATE PANTS!"

Sarah: "Eeeewwwwwww!"
"I didn't mean to say 'eww'. I say 'ewwww' to good cake."

Hallie is wearing all of the scarves in the cube and dancing.
You want proof?
Oh, alright.

Two blog posts in one day.

I know it, I am as surprised as you.

The way the world should work: It's 1 something in the morning, all of the homework that MUST be done is done, so I shall go to bed.

The way the world in fact works: It's 1 something in the morning, so I will check blogs, facebook, twitter, facebook again, and then write a blog post. And excuse me for a moment while I check facebook again.

Ok, I'm back. We are good.

Anyways, besides the urge to sing/quote the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song just now, here is what's happening in my life:

Ok, so I go to Capitol Hill church of Christ every Sunday for evening church. At first I thought it was going to be some thing I did to get the class credit I needed, and then I would move on. After all, inner city missions are cool, but I go to far away places where people don't speak the same language and it is easy to serve God because I see that the people I am serving are poor, but the whole language barrier stops me from really knowing (and caring) what is hurting their hearts, not just their stomachs. I am not going to fall in love with pre-schoolers and families and ministry staff that show me what the real love of Jesus is about. Nope, not what I am going to do with the rest of my life.
I mean, I am right...right? I have plans, I know I am going to be a nurse and move away from America and this is mapped out...

Whoa. Wait. Hold the phone.

I get it God. You are in charge, and You enjoy seeing your plan take effect (affect?) in my life.
You want to lead me to where you have called me. You want me to listen to your voice, even if it is the gentle whisper. Or even if it is a kid in inner-city OKC giving me a hug and telling me he missed me since last time. You want me to trust you.
This is what I want from you God.
Take me from the very inside of my self, God. I am freakin' out. You have some big plan for me, and I am not sure what it is. In fact, I have no idea what it is. But you do, God. So make me happy with that.

Whoa.

That, ladies and gents, is what happens when the way the world DOES work happens... You have big plans (of sleeping) but then your plans are changed (by blogging)...

We serve such a cool God.

they will catch me when i fall (break)

Mom: "So where are you guys going?"
Me: "Um, East."
Mom: "Oh. Well, have fun?"

Repeat this conversation with every person who asked me about fall break.

So me and the gang, yeah, we are a gang, loaded up in three cars and went, you guessed it- East.

Route 66, here we come.

First Stop, POPS. Obviously.
Sorry this is all underlined. I cant help it.

I love these girls. I also love Taylor's face in this picture. Very pretty.

They make my heart pound. Like Justin Bieber. Well, Luda in this case.
Next stop, which was suprisingly like 50 feet down the road, was the Round Barn.
(Cue Sarah Risley saying "Wooohooo" here.)
Then we went to Stroud, OK. Not a lot there, right?

WRONG!

There are little gems like the Rock Cafe, made famous(ish) by the movie Cars!!
Now I am tired of typing, and I am also in class, so enjoy some pictures!

Further proof that SATAN is residing in my best friend.

You are excited to see it, I am sure....

........

My favorite picture of the trip by far.
I love them. A lot. For ever.

There have got to be things in this day, right?

So today sucked/was weird/the planets must be in some weird alignment/just plain blew for everyone. So in the attempts to make life a little goofier, here is the top 10 things that happened today, and please note the mediocrity of all of these.
  1. Laura and Brett got engaged. I mean, we aren't besties by any means, but they are precious, and will now be together forever.
  2. Great weather
  3. I bought a really pretty scarf.
  4. Hallie bought socks and leg warmers.
  5. Callie looked real cute at dinner.
  6. I didn't get a 68 on my Psych test. I didn't get a 40 either!
  7. Cal ate a Reese's.
  8. Callie almost passed out after she ate, but she DIDN'T.
  9. Hallie's tour got cancelled.
  10. Callie got a new JB poster.
  11. We listened to some great music in the car.
So.
Yeah.

ten terrific tuesday tidbits

  1. Tuesdays include easy classes, work, friends, Glee, Overflow, BFF. All GREAT things in my book, so tuesday is ALWAYS a terrific tidbit in my books.
  2. I talk about them all the time, but tonight the Cube girls reminded me why I love them. We laugh together often, cry together sometimes, and dance together always.
  3. View tonight was exceptionally awesome. God is alive and real. The song "Inside Out" gives me chills every time. Cal would most definitely give that a fist pump/pelvic thrust.
  4. Funfetti cake is perfect for every occasion, including Mondays. The Cube ate an entire cake with one fork in under 24 hours.
  5. My dorm is only clean for about 5 hours every monday, but it doesn't matter because my wonderful roommate doesn't care, and her side is typically just as destroyed.
  6. I am going with about 20 other people to Stillwater tomorrow night, and that means BFF, worship, and always enjoyable car rides.
  7. I got to see friends this weekend, and that made the sad Nebraska weekend MUCH better.
  8. After waiting my whole life, I am a proud Rainbow in the sisterhood of Gamma Rho.
  9. I have big plans to make dinner with Cal at some random friends apartment. I will do the cooking, she will provide the entertainment.
  10. I am joyful. I am finding contentment in my circumstances. I have friends and a family that love me, and I feel God's presence, and I am preparing for Him to do something BIG.
Tuesdays are the greatest.

Oh what a beautiful morning....

is in fact a bold faced lie.
When is a morning ever beautiful?
It's miserable getting out of bed, getting dressed, and then going to face the world,
especially when you get no sleep, or your bed is oh so warm and snuggly while the room around you is so very cold.

But sometimes, the world is fair.
you might be getting up to see one of your best friends in the whole world:
Example A:

Then other times, it's not the getting up early that is the reward.
It's the staying up and loving the people you are around that makes the terrible morning that you will have to face worth it.
Sometimes, you are saying "Oh what a beautiful morning" because you know that you get through the tough times to get through the best parts of life.
Example B:
Sisters that you don't see as much anymore but still love.
Ridiculous girls that have your back and know your emotions because they feel the exact same way.

The reasons you don't get to sleep until 3 something in the morning.
Those people that mean too much to explain, and are always there to pick up right where you left off.

So maybe tomorrow I will wake up and I will sing the lyrics from "Oklahoma!" and remember that this is the day that God has made for us to love him, and He has put so many things in the mornings to love us too.

A personal favorite...

I love reading Leah's Thx Thx Thx blog. She is funny, sarcastic, and (obviously) thankful.
All three of those things are pretty high up on my list of excellent characteristics.

Ooooooh college.

I love college.
Is that a song?
Maybe some trashy rap song?
Anyways, I love college.

Pictures?
Deal.
Also, I have no idea why this is underlined.... Sorry.
Great great great roommate. Love this girl.

One of my favorite picture of EYW.
Two of the best girls in the whole world. For real though. I love these two.
This is totally normal for us.
The greatest tie-dye ever got turned into a deep-V. Uhg.

EYW- Basically camp on steroids for freshmen.
SO MUCH BETTER as staff. Loved it.

Meeting new friends- Excellent.
Becoming friends with people that I had met but previously thought were the worlds biggest tools. -Even better.

Rushing a club- Um. Different blog post.

That's all for now.

:-)
